Tips for Keeping a Good Lab Notebook

• Your name goes on the front and inside cover
• At the top of every page:  the activity number and date
• Use only the front of each page
• Try to anticipate order, if know a project is incomplete, leave a few pages
• Always record all your data in your notebook even if it also goes into Excel or another program as well
• Always clearly label all your data collection tables
• Conclusion questions go a separate page with the activity number and Conclusion Questions in the header
• Keep it neat
• Keep it clean
• Use clear tape on all four sides to attach items inside
• Do not fold things in your note book
