The Greater Owensboro- Vision 2065 meeting is an initiative to improve Owensboro’s physical, mental, and social health in the long-term future in 50 years. There were many community leaders and workers at the meeting. The meeting began with a video on social health, mental health, and physical health that showed us new things that we are seeing now and that we can see in the future. Next, we were divided into our designated health sector (mine was social) and we began the first activity where we all looked at possible future scenarios and we decided whether each scenario was under social, physical, or mental health. We concluded that each scenario required all the health sectors to work together in some way. This was interesting, as we got to see different approaches to possibilities in the future. After, we discussed with one another of any problems or things we could solve or innovate regarding social health (relationships, awareness, events, etc.), and we brainstormed ideas that we could implement for the future- in 2065. I even got to share some of my own and my class’s ideas as to what we could do to better Owensboro socially in the future. Also, some eye-opening facts were brought up that many people in Owensboro struggle or struggled in the past to have certain necessities like plumbing, sewage, housing, etc. and we thought of ways to eradicate and improve these conditions.  All in all, the 2065 meeting was very fascinating and I can’t wait to attend the next meeting to improve and innovate the city of Owensboro in the future!
